Hi there,
I took the week off and went away with the family, so I’ve barely looked at what’s been happening.
However, still plenty to talk about.
What I’m Seeing in AI
Claude Gets Trumped
Last Friday I wrote about Claude Fable 5, the powerful new model Anthropic had just released. The next day, the US government pulled the pin, citing national security. Here’s their statement.
The Trump administration ordered Anthropic to block the model for all non-US citizens, including Anthropic’s own non-American staff. The order was so broad that Anthropic just turned the models off worldwide.
This is the first time a government has stepped in because a model was too powerful. It brings back the questions: how do we regulate rapidly improving AI, so we don’t wake up one day with Skynet?

Some have suggested an ‘FDA For AI’ - a review process every new model must pass. But in my mind, the only thing that keeps this from snowballing is competition. Letting the AI labs keep jockeying for market share means no single power - government or company - ends up the only one with all-powerful super-intelligence.
Getting Value from AI
I’ve also been thinking about how AI actually provides a return for the money people throw at it. Whole companies are burning millions on tokens per month, and I spoke to an Aussie company paying a $300k bonus for whoever uses AI best.

To answer that question, no one really knows yet. I know that I get at least ten times more done with AI than without, but it’s still not perfectly clear how that benefit is shared with a whole company.
No one really knows what ‘AI Native’ means yet. We’re still so early, and the months spent playing around with AI now will compound.
What I’m Building
Community :)
I was up in Sydney last weekend, so Batko and I hosted an AI Coffee at Coogee Pav.

We had a bunch of cool people show up, including CEOs, and AI staff from Canva and Uber. We’ll definitely do more.
If you want to join the community, jump in the Slack here. More to come.
That’s all I got.
Anything I missed that happened this week?
And if someone in your world would get something out of this, please share it.
See you next Friday,
Finlay
